How does Kents Hill keep campers safe and healthy?

Kents Hill Sports Camp has a registered nurse on site 24 hours a day for the entire summer, a hospital and urgent care center 20 minutes from camp, tele-health physician visits when a doctor’s opinion is needed, and a dorm counselor-to-camper ratio of 1 to 4. Owner and Director Kevin Kooperman built this camp after 10 years helping run the brother camp, Bridgton Sports Camp for Boys.
Health care on site
Health Director Mia Burek is a registered nurse with more than 15 years of emergency department experience, on site for the full summer. Camp keeps a resident nurse available 24 hours a day. For anything beyond what the health center handles, a hospital and urgent care center are 20 minutes from camp, and camp also uses tele-health physician visits so a doctor can weigh in quickly without a trip off site.

Supervision and staff screening
Dorm counselors live with their assigned group of campers and are responsible for them throughout the day, at a ratio of one counselor for every four campers. Every staff member goes through an interview, multiple reference checks, and a background and clearance check before being hired, and the full staff completes a week of orientation before campers arrive.

Assistant Director Alyson Lee has more than 40 years in camping as a camper, counselor, head counselor, and assistant director.
